Draughtsmen, painter. Born in Brno, studied at Škola umění Zlín (1939–1943). In wartime Zlín he was a important part of the avant-garde circle of youngsters (Václav Chad, Milada Schmidtová, Alex Beran and Otakar Hudeček). He was the one of the first representants of Dubuffet-like primitivism in Europe. After war he lived few years in Prague, then for the rest of the life in Brno. As a member of Group Q quietly developped distinctive cultivated lyrical abstraction, far from the wild expressiv beginnings full of eroticism and violent war times.
