Rimbaud’s mother Vitálie Rimbaudová, describes, in four letters, various grave experiences of “cleaning” and expanding the family grave to her daughter Isabelle eight years after her son’s death and burial. They were selected from the collected edition of his work and complimented it with an enchanting essay by the poet and leading European biographer of Rimbaud, Miloslav Topinka. The portrait of the narrow-minded family background that Rimbaud is rebelling against has now acquired irritatingly ambivalent contours.
